I have produced, written and recorded a number of songs and albums under my own name. This song in particular was a song entirely produced and recorded by myself.
The most complicated element to work with here was the live drums performed by Samuel Heitmiller. As the only instrument on the song I did not perform or write, it was more difficult to spatialize and mix. I eventually found a relatively dry sound that worked best with the punchy layers of guitar.
This song is a dark, funky electro-pop song by singer, songwriter and producer Sinhong Park (aka. Irulan).
The basis for much of this song was already recorded when I joined the process, but it seemed electric guitar was the propulsive element the song needed.
This was a live guitar contribution for a performance from rnb singer Jia Bae (aka. Hevel). The stripped back nature of the performance allows both the guitar and vocal to shine in their respective elements. The reharmonization of these otherwise layered songs proved a unique and rewarding challenge as a guitarist.
My second full length album was likely my largest compositional work to date. In collaboration with performers Corbin Stanchfield (bass guitar), Samuell Heitmiller (drum kit), and co-producer Sinhong Park, I crafted an expansive rock album that harkens back to classic singer-songwriter music with loud, modern electric instrumentation. My contributions were vocals, writing, composition, production, guitar, harmonica and keys.
The above song is the first single from this album, Bruxism.
